SQAIRZ has launched wide sizes, after nearly 5 years of being the widest toe box in golf. Which begs the question, what’s the distinction between a wide shoe and a wide toe box? It can be a bit of a head-scratcher. After all, the two terms are often used interchangeably. But we’re here to set the record straight once and for all:
A wide shoe and a wide toe box are two completely different things.
The width of a shoe is established under the ball of the foot. When you order a shoe in a EE width, this relates to the width of the shoe itself, giving your forefoot more room in the upper.
The width of a toe box is the area extending from the ball of the foot to the end of the big toe. When you order a shoe with a wide toe box, this relates to the area where your toes sit in the shoe, giving them space to splay rather than cramming them inward.
Up until now, SQAIRZ has been known for its patented toe box, which creates room for your toes to spread naturally. While described as a “wide” toe box by some, the reality is SQAIRZ simply does not taper the toe box inward like other shoes—and this is done without increasing the width of the shoe.
That’s about to change. SQAIRZ has just introduced wide sizing.
